YES it is possible to have a HOUSE in LA for under $1m. You may not be beachfront but if you’re tired of apartment or condo life, and you want that yard please don’t give up hope - it’s possible!
Jefferson Park is just East of West Adams and is a great option for those who are seeking a house, but refuse to leave the city. If access to Downtown is a must-have then you should absolutely consider Jefferson Park. The neighborhood is home to adorable Spanish bungalows, and Craftsman homes that make old house lovers like myself swoon. This 4 bed house is listed for $899,000. More info here.
For my Eastsiders! If you are a lover of Eastside vibes but find yourself priced out of Los Feliz, or Echo Park consider a skip over to Highland Park. York St. is home to great eats and adorable local shops, this community reminds me of Venice many moons ago. Every time I’m in Highland Park I see the neighborhood parks full of families with kids, or a group of adults just lounging about enjoying the sunshine. People hang outside and chat - it’s a real community! This cute house was remodeled a few years back and is a great 3 bed option with a converted garage - perfect for guest, home office, or in-laws. More info here.
Before you tell me all the reasons you can’t live in the Valley, stop and click through these listing pictures. Guys- this house has a fabulous backyard, tons of space, and is South of Ventura making hopping over the hill via Topanga Canyon a commute with an ocean view. This 3 bedroom is my favorite property of the three. More info here.
